Tablelands area
Situated to the west from Cairns with an elevation between 500 to 1000m, the Tablelands offer a cool change from the coastal hot and humid weather in summer.
The Tablelands, also known as the Cairns Highlands cover an area of 60000 sq km and is the home of World Heritage listed national parks, rainforests, ancient geological formations, crater lakes and lots of waterfalls.
There are many day tours to the Tablelands from Cairns. The popular ones are the sightseeing tours visiting the rainforests, the lakes and the waterfalls, the hiking, trekking and bicycle tours, the bird watching and animal spotting tours and wildlife safaris, the hot air ballooning and tropical fruit tasting tours .
