Mission Beach area
Mission Beach is a 14km long pristine, palm fringed beach south of Cairns, a popular tourist destination. It has accommodations ranging from caravan parks, backpacker hostels, holiday apartments, B&B-s to luxurious resorts. Most accommodation has magnificent ocean views, views onto Dunk Island or the surrounding rainforest. The area is a national park and the forest is full of protected wildlife, it is the home of the famous Cassowary flightless bird hence the name of “Cassowary Coast” for this Far North Queensland coastline.
The two most popular activities in Mission Beach is rafting on the mighty Tully river and skydiving and landing on the sandy beach. Dunk Island is only ten minutes by boat from Mission beach and a popular holiday resort with lots of activities.
